January 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

My current makeup subscription box is from Ipsy. I was a bit skeptical about a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box because I didn't want to end up with a bunch of products I couldn't use or didn't know how to use. Each month you get full size or deluxe-sized products in a cute makeup bag, and I was sold after checking out their previous bags. If you're not very adventurous with makeup like me, it's a great way to build your makeup collection on the cheap and expand your makeup expertise!

The January Ipsy Glam Bag theme was Metropolis. I got a super trendy silver and powder blue bag. I really liked this month's minimalistic design and I could see myself actually using this bag as a clutch. LOOOVE!

In my bag:

Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment

Pretty Woman nail polish in I'm Not A Ballerina
Manna Kadar Paradise blush
Jelly Pong Pong lip scrub
Trust Fund Beauty lipgloss

At first I was really underwhelmed with this selection. I already have so many nail polishes, blush and lip glosses just from Ipsy alone and I was really hoping for something I haven't tried before. I rate the January Ipsy Glam Bag a 3/5! I was most excited to discover Manna Kadar beauty, a brand I've never heard of before.

More about the products inside:

Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment- I'm not the biggest fan of loose pigments and have stayed away from using them because they're just too messy. I'm not a seasoned makeup artist so I don't care for learning the tricks of the trade when it comes to using products like this. I am however, so stoked to use this product in different ways, other than on the eyelids. You can use loose pigments in glosses, moisturizers and nail polishes...OOOHHH YEAH!!!

Pretty Woman nail polish in I'm Not A Ballerina- Ipsy knows me well. Too well, in fact, since I've gotten so many pink nail polishes from them this past year. Maybe I should start hitting "No I don't like" on that little survey so I can get different stuff teeheee!!!

Manna Kadar Paradise blush- I'm  so happy to have this lovely little blush. I have tried so many different brands and I was surprised to see how pigmented this blush is. It's got the perfect golden shimmer and I love how the gold peeks through the deep pink when you move. It can honestly double as a highlight if you're looking for a subtle glow!

Jelly Pong Pong lip scrub- This is the second lip scrub I got from Ipsy and I love it. My lips felt super soft and did wonders for any flakes or dry skin on my lips. This lip scrub smells absolutely delicious and I had to stop myself from eating it! GAH! This did an excellent job of prepping my lips for my next favourite item...

Trust Fund Beauty lipgloss- I first heard about TFB from Ipsy and have gotten a few of the TFB products. I was happy to get this colour...but to be honest, it's so sheer I couldn't even see it. I liked how this gloss wasn't sticky and my lips felt super nourished :) I LIIIIIKE

What did you get in your January Glam Bag? I'd love to hear from you!

SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW- January 2017 Little Life Box

If you're looking for a healthy lifestyle subscription box, then look no further than the Little Life Box. This subscription has a nice mix of beauty products, snacks, supplements and more! I was sent the January 2017 box to review and it is quickly becoming one of my favourite monthly subscriptions.

Inside was:

Life Candy makeup wedges
Kiju lemonade
Acure facial scrub
GoGo Quinoa 5 grain medley
Pur gum in chocolate mint
Vida grains superfood supplement bar
ConcenTrace electrolyte drops
Honey Bar Sweet & Salty snack bar
Earth's Care skin balm samples
FIBERrific prebiotic fiber samples
Sisu vitamin D3 samples

I was very happy to see the Acure scrub in the box! If you're like me, this winter weather has been wreaking havoc on my skin, and I am in dire need of a good scrub! I really liked that the Acure scrub is vegan, as well as sulfate and paraben free. This French clay based scrub felt very rich and did an excellent job buffing away the dead skin on my face. It came out of the tube very thick but made a very nice lather once you apply it to your wet face. This was JUST what I needed!! There were a few ingredients I wasn't familiar with, but after doing some research, I found out why I loved the results.

My skin was immediately softer, yet supple due to the organic sea kelp, lemon peel and Madonna lily stem cells that are in this scrub. Here are their benefits:

Organic sea kelp-believed to help moisturize and soften skin. It is rich in amino acids and vitamins A, B, C and E.

Lemon peel- contains alpha hydroxy acid and many other vitamins and minerals that contribute to a brighter complexion.

Madonna lily stem cells- active plant stem cells have been shown to decrease dark spots for a more even skin tone and brighter complexion by interfering with the transfer of melanin. Madonna lily has also been shown to help regenerate and increase cellular renewal.

More about the snacks-

My favourite thing about Little Life Box is that there were full sized items as well as samples in this box. This was a great way for me to discover new brands and to enjoy snacks that I would never have purchased on my own at the store.  I was most excited about the Honey Bar since I love discovering new and convenient ways to get some extra energy on the go! It was so delicious and I was surprised to find the perfect balance of honey, nuts, and peanut butter. YUM!! I was very happy with the January Little Life Box. I look forward to discovering new brands and new healthy snacks each month!

GIFT FOR HIM-Knots Apparel Co.

Happy 2017 to you and yours! I hope you had a fantastic holiday and have settled back into the daily grind with ease :) As much as I love the fact that the holiday craziness is over, I miss the excitement of giving/receiving gifts and spending time with family just a bit! Haha!! Over the holidays I got so many lovely packages and I'm excited to share with you the awesome things I've found.

First up, these amazing ties from Knots Apparel Co. A huge thanks to the Knots team for sending these ties for review. I love companies that give back and Knots Apparel Co. does a lot to support charities. Half of their profits are given to the charities that have inspired the brand. Each tie design starts with a process that includes selecting a charity and materials, colours and patterns that reflect the spirit, people and culture of the communities associated with the charity partner. You can read more about the partners here.
When I opened the box I was blown away with the packaging. These ties came in a super cool wooden box and let me tell you...the hoarder in me got so giddy. I have an obsession with containers and boxes so this was kind of a big deal for me (I know....I'm weird...nothing new) but on a serious note, these boxes are perfect for storing the ties and any other small items like cuff links when you're travelling.

MY THOUGHTS:

I was impressed with the care that went into making these ties. Each tie felt luxurious, yet durable. I loved the sock ties and I admired the hockey designs that still looked like they could be worn by someone that doesn't necessarily support the team or like hockey. I learned that 50% of the profits from the limited edition sock ties will support youth hockey and I think that's fantastic!!!!

HIS THOUGHTS:

These ties were super fun and very comfortable to wear. I like wearing ties for both work and casual outings, so it was nice to have the sock ties that worked for both. I like watching hockey and I've never had a tie that I could wear to support my team. I'm happy it doesn't look too obnoxious!! Well done :) I really like the details on each tie and the Knots stitched logo on the back of the tie was a nice touch! You can find a ton of ties and other men's accessories on the Knots website. I like that this company gives back and it's a great way to make a meaningful impact to the community year round, and you look good doing it!
