My First Time using an Oval Brush set

I'm such a terrible person for getting out of habits. Once I find  a technique that works, I usually stick with it. I almost always wear the same winged liner, the same eyeshadow combo, and heck, I can even put my makeup on with my eyes closed because it's usually the same blending technique every time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! AMIRITE!?!

So when I was recently sent a beautiful set of oval makeup brushes for review, my first thought was "dafuq am I supposed to do with THOSE?!?!" I enjoy the stippling I need to do with my beauty blender. I'm good at it, it looks what's this new oval brush business about anyway! I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use the brushes. While it definitely took some getting used to, I was happy to noticed how much LESS product I needed for full face coverage.

The bristles are so soft and dense that I needed much less foundation than when I used my beauty blender. That's a HUGE bonus in my book. I'm still getting the blending techniques down, but I recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new. I still prefer to use my regular beauty blender, but that's only because old habits die hard!! My First Time using the Glam Glow Gravity Mud Firming Treatment

I've always been a fan of the Glam Glow masks even though I find them to be a bit on the pricey side. Don't let the price intimidate you, if you haven't tried any of the Glam Glow masks, I suggest you start with the SuperMud, it's sooooooo worth it!

I really love when I'm able to get samples or smaller versions of masks before I commit to buying the full size. You can always ask for samples at Sephora or any other beauty retailer. Most of the time they say yes...BONUS!!! I was lucky enough to try the Gravity Mud Firming Treatment, and let me tell's worth buying!

Here's a bit about the Glam Glow Gravity Mud mask:

Which skin type is it good for? ✔ Normal ✔ Oily ✔ Combination ✔ Dry
What it is: An instant firming and tightening, silver peel-off treatment with a convenient brush for application.
Solutions for: - Loss of firmness and elasticity - Fine lines and wrinkles

If you want to know more…
GRAVITYMUD™ Firming Treatment is an innovative mask that changes color from white to a brilliant chrome—peeling off to leave the skin with a tighter and more lifted appearance. Its mega-targeted ingredients work together to help the skin’s contours appear firmer and more defined.

Its always good to note, when using a peel off mask, stay away from eyebrows and hairline. I also found it handy to leave the edges a bit thicker so I had something to grab on to when I was ready to peel off the mask.

I felt like an amazing superhero with this mask and couldn't resist taking tons of selfies! Hahah! It dried to a shiny silver mask that felt very tight but peeled off easily. It had a very pleasant scent and luxurious texture. It really felt like going to a spa!

I didn't see much dry skin or blackheads on the mask after I peeled it off, but my skin did feel smoother and looked a bit firmer. After only one use, I didn't experience life changing results, but liked the way my skin felt clean and refreshed.

May 2016 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

My current makeup subscription box is from Ipsy. I was a bit skeptical about a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box because I didn't want to end up with a bunch of products I couldn't use or didn't know how to use. Each month you get full size or deluxe-sized products in a cute makeup bag, and I was sold after checking out their previous bags. If you're not very adventurous with makeup like me, it's a great way to build your makeup collection on the cheap and expand your makeup expertise!

The May Ipsy Glam Bag was very impressive and I just want to take a moment to talk about the cutest bag I've ever received from Ipsy! This was the first time I got a non-zip bag and the travel theme was simply perfect for any summer travels.

I was very pleased with every single item in my bag and was so excited to try them all.

      In my bag:
      Glam Glow SuperMud clearing mask
Eva NYC Hungry Hair oil treatment
Bella Pierre Cosmetics Gel lip liner pencil
      Vera Mona Eye smudger brush
      Smashbox X-Rated mascara

I rate the May Ipsy Glam Bag 5/5! (Plus bonus stars for the super cute bag!!)

The product I was most excited about was the Glam Glow SuperMud. As you know I LOOOOOOOOVE facial masks and was so happy when I saw that I was getting Glam Glow in the bag!

      More about the products inside:

Glam Glow SuperMud clearing mask- I am a huge fan of Glam Glow products and the SuperMud did not disappoint. It went on smooth and my face felt super clean after the treatment. HIGHLY recommended!

Eva NYC Hungry Hair oil treatment- I don't know about you but my hair DRINKS oil. My chemically treated hair was very happy to get this sample. It smelled great and really made my hair feel soft and more manageable. I will buy the full size for SURE :)

Bella Pierre Cosmetics Gel lip liner pencil- I usually don't use liner pencils, so this was a nice treat! I am happy to get the chance to use such a useful product. I liked the colour and formula but I'm unsure if this will be added to my beauty routine just yet!

Vera Mona Eye smudger brush- While I didn't NEED a new smudger brush, I was happy to get this Vera Mona brush since I love how soft they are. Ain't nothing wrong with more brushes!!!

Smashbox X-Rated mascara- I LOVE LOVE LOVE Smashbox. I was very happy to get this mascara since my current SB mascara is almost done. Perfect timing Ipsy!

What did you get in your May Glam Bag? I'd love to hear from you!

My First Time using the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

Social media is such a wonderful thing. I love seeing new and exciting products and I am always willing to try new beauty products out for myself. Lately, I was intrigued by those gross pictures of people showing the stuff that was pulled out of their face by a black facial mask. As disgusting as some of those pictures were, it was interesting to see how a mask could get so much stuff out. I was so curious to see what would come out of my face, that I had to try it!!

Here's a bit about the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

Which skin type is it good for?
      ✔ Normal
      ✔ Oily
      ✔ Combination

      What it is:
A groundbreaking, mineral-rich mask that peels off to deliver powerful detoxifying, purifying, and brightening effects.

      Solutions for:
      - Enlarged pores
      - Oiliness
      - Dullness and uneven texture

If you want to know more…
This jet-black, mineral-rich mask creates a unique peel-off effect that delivers powerful detoxifying, purifying, and brightening results. Made with a premier-quality clay, its deep-cleansing properties draw out dirt and oil. Other natural ingredients go to work exfoliating skin and refining pores. Powerful antioxidants shrink the appearance of pores, firm skin, and reduce inflammation. Once dried, the mask strips away dead skin, impurities, and excess oil to reveal immediate and visible results.

Its always good to note, when using a peel off mask, stay away from eyebrows and hairline. I also found it handy to leave the edges a bit thicker so I had something to grab on to when I was ready to peel off the mask.

As you can see, I had a lot of dead skin. I was a bit impressed with the results and having something tangible was a huge bonus, since I find myself doubting if some products are even working. I felt like there was still some dry skin and blackheads that the mask "missed" but with any product, I know its not a "be all, end all" solution. I liked the way my skin felt after I used the mask and I still felt the smoothness the morning after. I did follow it up with my favourite moisturizer and I'm unsure how my skin would feel without a followup solution.
