February 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

My current makeup subscription box is from Ipsy. I was a bit skeptical about a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box because I didn't want to end up with a bunch of products I couldn't use or didn't know how to use. Each month you get full size or deluxe-sized products in a cute makeup bag, and I was sold after checking out their previous bags. If you're not very adventurous with makeup like me, it's a great way to build your makeup collection on the cheap and expand your makeup expertise!

The February 2017 glam bag theme was Much Love and I'm thrilled to say, also marks my one year anniversary with Ipsy!!!! We've had a few ups and downs, but for the most part I'm pleased with the service and I'll continue building my makeup collection with Ipsy :) I was very happy with the selection this month, but I have to share my distaste with the bag design.

Let me share a little story...I think I hate denim bags so much because it reminds me of the time when I was a teenager and wanted to be a fashion designer so badly that I started making my own bags and clothes. I'm thankful I don't have pictures so I can spare myself the embarrassment of how terrible my creations were. Anyway, one time I cut up a pair of denim jeans and decided to make a purse, very much like the February 2017 bag design except there were denim patches and not so straight stitching. I used the trim of the jeans for the handle and thought it was the coolest thing for a while...until reality hit and I saw the bag for what it actually was...a horrid and dysfunctional mess. I've definitely ruined denim bags for myself and I so desperately wish I could give this bag a thumbs up...but I just can't :(

In my (ugly) bag:

Bella Pierre waterproof mascara

Trust Fund Beauty nail polish in $12 latte
NYX Butter lipstick in Ripe Berry
Promise Organic coconut facial scrub
True Botanicals resurfacing mask
BONUS- Lisa Hoffman Jade Quartz fragrance bracelet with french clary sage fragrance beads

Even though there wasn't anything spectacular in this bag, I was happy to see things I haven't tried before, like the Butter lipstick and True Botanicals mask. I rate the February Ipsy Glam Bag a 5/5! I was most excited to get the fragrance bracelet. As you may not already know, I'm a bit obsessed with bracelets, so as soon as I saw the reward (which I check every day!) I experienced such joy clicking that little "redeem" button!! LOL!

More about the products inside:

Bella Pierre waterproof mascara- This was a very simple mascara, nothing to fuss about here! Does the job and not much more.

Trust Fund Beauty nail polish in $12 latte- At first I thought "who the heck would wear brown nail polish...ewww" but that's what I get for making assumptions before I actually try something. UGH, when will I learn?! Turns out, I actually like it. I'm not the biggest fan of the TFB nail polish formula because I notice a lot of streaking, especially with the lighter shades. I learned from my mistakes and put this one on thick, and I like it. Check out my mani and let me know what you think.

NYX Butter lipstick in Ripe Berry- This lipstick is DA BOMB DIGGITY. It went on super smooth and felt like a gloss. I LUUURVE! The colour was super pigmented and long lasting. A must try if you're looking for a lipstick that doesn't "feel" like a heavy lipstick.

Promise Organic coconut facial scrub- I'm a bit obsessed with scrubs and I was not disappointed here. The fragrance was so decadent that I wanted to eat it! This was my first time trying Promise Organic and I was very pleased with the results. My skin was left soft and supple. I even noticed that a few dry patches around the corner of my mouth were buffed away! Simply amazing!

True Botanicals resurfacing mask- This was the perfect follow up to the PO coconut scrub. I noticed my skin was brighter and felt super moisturized. This was a real treat and exactly what my skin needed during these winter months :) This mask felt like jelly and felt very much like spreading honey on my face. I wish I had a bigger sample so I could have another go to see its true impact!

BONUS- Lisa Hoffman Jade Quartz fragrance bracelet with french clary sage fragrance beads- I read about fragrance bracelets on Instagram and have always wanted to try one. The idea is that the fragrance beads that are kept in the little refillable charm release a scent that (depending on which fragrance you choose) offers a bit of aromatherapy throughout the day. I really enjoyed this! The bracelet was a bit too big for my wrist, so I just took off the charm and wore it with one of my other bracelets. I picked the french clary sage fragrance and fell in love with the subtle, yet crisp fragrance release while I was wearing it. A must try if you like multifunctional accessories!

What did you get in your February Glam Bag? I'd love to hear from you!
